Having a better attitude about the day ahead will have a surprisingly big impact.
As most people know, some days at work are just better than others, but when every day at work is a drag, it may be time to make some important changes. With the current state of the job market it may not be easy to simply leave and find a more enjoyable job. So making the most out of one’s current job is the best approach. Have a Better Attitude about WorkOne of the most significant changes to be made right from the start is to improve one’s outlook on work. Sure, the manager may be a jerk and there may be projects piling up, but simply having a better attitude about work will make the day much better. Simply put, a job is what pays the bills and provides for necessities in life. So, attendance is mandatory. Having a better attitude about the day ahead will surprisingly have a big impact. Make Friends at WorkHaving friends at work can make the work day much more fun. Friends can go to lunch together, take coffee breaks and commiserate about bosses or a lazy co-worker. It is also nice to see a friendly face at work or get a smile when walking by. If a company has a softball team or bowling team, consider joining. Joining a company team may enhance a person’s sense of belonging and provide a great opportunity for friendship. Avoid talking to people at the office who are full of negativity and have nothing but bad things to say. Likewise, do not speak negatively about the company or perpetuate negative feelings about the work environment. This type of behavior only makes feelings of resentment and frustration more intense. Talk to a ManagerTalking to a manager is a good idea if work is unfulfilling or not challenging. A manager might be able to re-assign work or find other projects that could be more enjoyable. The bottom line is that if a person is not happy with the work they are doing; doing nothing about it will not solve the problem. Often work cannot be shifted, but if a manager is aware that other projects would be more fulfilling, they may keep that in mind for the future. Other Tips for Fun at WorkFind something at work to get excited about. It may be finishing a project, making a basketball court around a trash can or planning a lunch with co-workers. Plan a company event, join a committee or get involved in some company activity. Increasing one’s sense of belonging within a company will increase a person’s happiness to be there. There are many things that can create fun at work with little effort involved. But to make a change, the process and the responsibility start with each individual. See more info: Have Fun at Work
